A Bankruptcy Lawyer
January 1st, 2008Croft Asks,
I had a bankruptcy lawyer 2 years ago to take care of all my problems on my credit report. I am currently trying to refinance my house and it turns out it wasn’t done. What can I do?
Croft,
You need to take responsibility for your credit and take care of the problems yourself. A bankruptcy lawyer is not needed to remove problems from your credit report. You can and should do all of this yourself.
If there is an inaccuracy, then dispute it. If there are liens, negotiate them down with the lender and then pay them off. Or just pay them off in the first place. Remember that you can get a free credit report yearly from annualcreditreport.com.
If you declared bankruptcy 2 years ago remember that it will stay on your credit for another 8 years. You need to be proactive and do whatever you can to ensure your credit is in the best shape it can be considering the circumstances.
